Fourth of July and Big Changes

Last night, on Fourth of July, Brian and I thought it would be cool to play with the exposure on my camera and some sparklers. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but the pictures still turned out pretty cool — even if you can’t quite tell that it is our names we were spelling. At the very least, it was fun whirling flaming sticks around in the dark. So much has been going  on lately, it’s kind of crazy. A couple weeks ago, Brian and I graduated with our bachelor’s degrees from Eastern Washington University. A few weeks after that, we packed up our apartment and moved from Cheney…

    Cozy in Spring

The weather has been so back and forth here recently. One day it will be in the 90s, the next it will be pouring down rain! For those cooler days, I’ve been layering my sundresses. That way, I can stay cozy, but still feel like it’s spring. Rain is my favorite type of weather, and I’m not huge on the heat, so honestly, I don’t mind. Get the Look: Sandals (size 7): Madden Girl Bryceee Flat Sandal in cognac Dress (L): Brand is SO from Kohl’s. Similar here, here and here Sweater (XL): Thrifted. Similar here

    Cranberry Florals

I’m not gonna lie, I’m having a love/hate moment with my growing stomach. On one hand, I’ve always thought that baby bumps were adorable. On the other hand, I’m starting to feel a bit whale-ish. Also, while I was prepared for the loss of my waist, for some reason it never occurred to me that I would gain weight everywhere else as well. I’ve definitely been struggling with this a bit (a fact my husband can attest to), but I’m trying not to let it bother me too much. Being healthy and gaining weight to support the baby is so much more important! Mostly, I’m sharing this because I want…

Goals for the New Year (2017)

The New Year is here and with it, a bundle of newfound energy and hope. I love making lists, and this year I decided it would be useful to scribble down a list of goals for 2017. I am separating “goals” from my New Year’s Resolution because in my head they seem to be two different things. To me, a New Year’s Resolution should be one thing—just ONE—that will improve the quality of your life. In contrast, goals are more of a collection of things that will help you grow as a person, with the aim of placing you closer to the person you were made to be by the…

    White Swiss Truffle

I’ll be honest. I love hot tea all year ’round. But there’s really nothing like a steaming cup between your chilly fingers in the colder months. I’ve never been much of a coffee person. In fact, I’ll only drink it when it has enough flavoring to mask the taste. Tea is much more my thing. And I’m okay with that. There’s something so romantic about a cup of tea. It’s so filled with Victorian elegance, so steeped (forgive the pun) with history, culture, and tradition. Plus there’s the fact that tea and books simply go together, like rain and yellow coats. What’s more comforting than a cup of tea, a…

    Fall 2016 Bucket List

It’s official. Summer is over and fall has finally begun.  I’ll be honest. Fall is one of my favorite seasons (aside from winter). There is just something about the crispness to the air, the coziness of sweaters and blankets, and the warm, rich hues of autumn leaves that really puts my soul at rest. I also love school, so the fact that it is starting up again after a long summer always excites me. 1) Curl up in a cozy blanket and read a book. Nearby window and sound of rain optional. 2) Redecorate the house. Emphasize warm, spicy, fall colors and upping the “cozy” factor. 3) Take the dog for an…

Dog Show and a Trip to Snohomish, WA

Last weekend, my mom and I traveled to Snohomish, Washington to show Flash in his first dog show. I was originally hoping to travel there with Brian, but unfortunately he had to work. That left me without a traveling companion or a car, so I was incredibly grateful when my mom offered to drive up with me. As I was already at my mom’s place in Montana, we left from there. Altogether, that made for an eight hour and three minute drive, according to Google Maps. The trip itself ended up being a little longer of course, since we stopped at several rest stops along the way, as well as a brief…
