A Hint of Spring
The first day of spring was nearly two weeks ago (March 20th), and yet somehow I woke to find snow on the ground this morning. After walking twenty minutes across campus to my first class, I was shocked to find that my hair had frozen stiff. Needless to say, I was glad to get inside the warm classroom — even if it meant admitting to myself that Spring Break is truly over.
Despite uncooperative weather, spring is in the air. Birds are singing, flowers are poking through the grass, and the sun’s rays almost feel warm against my back. So, in spirit of the season, today’s outfit is inspired by springtime. For today, I chose to wear my grey midi skirt paired with some heeled ankle booties (also seen here) and a lace crop top.
Lace feels like such a spring fabric — especially this particular lace which has a floral motif. In contrast, the long sleeves and sturdy fabric of my skirt reminded me that cold weather has not quite passed. For a bit of extra color, I added a subtle touch of sheer lipstick.
In general, crop tops fall under the category of “definitely immodest.” I would argue, however, that they are also one of the easiest pieces to make modest. Here, I simply wore mine with a high waisted skirt and over a black camisole.
