Fuzzy

I apologize that my images came out rather lackluster today. My trusty wingman (aka husband) was busy so I dusted off my tripod and went solo. And failed. Rather miserably. All of my tripod images turned out rather blurry, dark, and poorly composed. Do any of you have tips or tricks to tripod photography? Because I just can’t figure this one out.

I suppose I could say that these images are metaphorical for my life lately. Well attempted, but a little fuzzy. I feel kind of blurry–out of focus, drifting, rough-around-the-edges, messy. My house isn’t as clean as I would like, my book isn’t as far along as I wish it would be, my prayer life isn’t as deep or meaningful as it should be. I am a work in progress. And that’s okay.

It’s okay to be imperfect…to have days pass by, leaving behind them the feeling of having not done quite enough. It’s okay to not have my mind straightened out, packed in perfect little boxes and organized so that everything makes sense. The truth is, I don’t make sense to myself sometimes, and that’s okay too. Perfectionism is a failing of mine. Maybe I should learn to be a little more like these pictures: Fuzzy, but well attempted.

Today, I wore my off the shoulder grey sweater, the same one I wore last week, but this time I mixed it up a little. I wore it over my favorite (though unfortunately dying) purple sweater to make it modest and tucked both into my skirt. I belted my waistline to add definition because this combo turned out to be rather bulky. The pictures are dark so you can’t tell colors but my belt is black, the long sleeved sweater is dark purple, the top sweater is grey, and my leggings are maroon.

I wore a pair of grey flats, which, to be completely honest, I would not have worn if I hadn’t been taking pictures. The ground was soggy and cold, so my feet got really wet. Because of the bulkiness of this outfit, I needed shoes that showed more leg to streamline the look and create balance. I currently don’t own a piece that works for this concept and is warm enough for the weather, so I demonstrated it as best I could with what I had. I would not recommend wearing flats when there is snow on the ground! If I had them, I would pair this look with some short, boots (ankle height or shorter) or some sort of lace up leather shoe (like an oxford flat) over cozy socks.
