Christmas at the Rebars’
Brian and I decorated our Christmas tree today. This is our first Christmas together as a married couple, and I’m pretty excited. I’ve still got a little bit of work to do on the house before we leave Sunday to visit family…but decorating is all fun work, so I’m okay with that!
Today, I wore a oversized grey sweater, with my skinny jeans and my favorite pair of cozy socks. I was originally planning on getting rid of this sweater because it is designed to fit off the shoulder and is difficult to make modest. But I pulled it out of my give-away bag after a moment of desperation a few months ago–it was getting cold outside and I didn’t have any sweaters! A little bit of creativity taught me that this is definitely a keeper. This sweater proves that almost anything can be made modest with a bit of creative thought.
Off the shoulder sweater (or shirt) modesty hack: Layer it up! I’ve found this sweater works well with my lace crop top under it, a collared button up, or, as shown here, a simple t-shirt.
Side point: Like all jeans, skinny jeans are a bit tighter the day after a wash. Skinny jeans in particular are difficult to wear modestly, and wearing them right after a wash makes it extra tough! My tip is to simply make sure that your shirt/sweater is long enough to cover your bottom on these days. This sweater is short in the front and longer in the back, so it is perfect!
Get the Look
Sweater (Size Small): I couldn’t find the same sweater, but I got it several years ago. The brand on it is “Calvin Klein Jeans”
Jeans (Size 8): Same jeans here.
Socks: These socks are super cozy and I love the design. They came from Walmart, believe it or not! I got them a couple years ago, so I don’t know if they still carry them, but it’s worth a look. My only tip? Hand wash them, or at least let them hang dry. I put mine through the wash and they shrunk. Luckily I have really little feet, but they are still a bit tight.

I’m not telling you this to sway you into making a purchase, I’m just letting you know because I think transparency is important and I want you to be aware. I promise to only link items that I love and would recommend anyway. I just figured, if I’m already recommending something and I could get paid, why not?
